Dear DASCH Community:

I hope this finds you well in this challenging time.

Well, what a year 2020 was and I am sure you all will agree that it will be a blessing to put this past year in our rearview mirrors and move forward with better and brighter days ahead.

It is my extreme pleasure to wish you and your family the very best for much health and happiness in the coming year. I know all of our DASCH family members, direct staff, support team and community stakeholders have all been working so very hard to follow health protocols to minimize the impact of the pandemic. I want to extend a huge thank you to everyone for working together to keep safe and healthy this past year.

Sadly, DASCH has been impacted more directly by the pandemic, having lost individuals of our DASCH family due to COVID-19.  Our entire organization extends heartfelt condolences to their families and loved ones.

As we strive to put the past year behind us, it is my pleasure to share some bright spots in the coming months.

We were thrilled to learn that the provincial government has announced that our health sector will be eligible for the next round of COVID-19 vaccinations. At this time, we know that only staff in a group care setting (24 hour shift staffed location) that fall within a certain age group will qualify for the vaccine. At this time, we do not know about residents living in group care receiving the vaccine but we will keep you informed as information is made available.

In the coming months we will be initiating a number of exciting new initiatives in the areas of programming, fundraising and communications.

Also, I look forward to your support for the upcoming DASCH Annual Possibilities Gala, being held virtually this year on April 23 and honouring Stigma Free Society co-founder and philanthropist, David Richardson. The event will include a wonderful dinner from 529 Wellington, delivered to your door, along with entertainment by Rainbow Stage and live and silent auctions! Sponsorship and ticket information is available on our Possibilities Gala webpage, or by contacting the DASCH Foundation at 204.987.1556.

Please accept my sincerest thanks to all of you for your incredible support this past year and I extend to you my very best wishes in 2021!
