50 Years of Compassion, Excellence, and Innovation
The DASCH Community is exceptionally proud to be celebrating our 50th anniversary in 2024. Hear from Karen Fonseth, DASCH CEO of over 20 years, as she reflects on our organization’s history and bright future.
This year, we are celebrating a remarkable milestone: the 50th anniversary of DASCH. Since 1974, DASCH has been a pioneer and a partner in providing meaningful and personalized support to people with intellectual disabilities and their families. Our mission is to empower people to live fulfilling lives in the community, with dignity and respect.
Over the past five decades, we have witnessed incredible changes in the world and in the field of disability services. We have also experienced tremendous growth and transformation as an organization.
From a small group of passionate volunteers, we have become a large and diverse team of professionals, serving thousands of members of the community across Winnipeg.
We have expanded our range of residential, vocational, and leisure programs to meet the diverse and evolving needs of the people we support. We have also established ourselves as a leader and a collaborator in advocating for the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities in our society.
We are immensely proud of our history and our achievements, but we are not resting on our laurels. We are always looking for ways to improve our services, to enhance our quality of care, and to innovate for the benefit of the people we support and our community.
As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been part of our journey. To the people we support and their families, thank you for trusting us and inspiring us every day. To our staff and volunteers, thank you for your dedication and excellence in everything you do. To our donors and sponsors, thank you for your generosity and support. To our partners and allies, thank you for your collaboration and advocacy. To our community and society, thank you for your acceptance and inclusion.
You are all part of the DASCH family, and we couldn’t have done it without you. We look forward to continuing our journey with you and to creating a brighter future for everyone.
Thank you for celebrating with us.
Sincerely,
Karen Fonseth
