National Volunteer Week: How Volunteers Make an Impact at DASCH

Volunteer Program

DASCH offers a range of volunteer roles, including social visits, recreation support, event assistance, and photography services. Each position provides a unique way to support and enrich the lives of the people DASCH serves, and Kristin, Learning & Development Coordinator, helps each volunteer find the role that’s right for them.

“DASCH volunteers are essential in providing quality support to the people we serve. Whether they choose to join in on activities enjoyed by those supported in homes and day programs, or lend an extra set of hands for creating memorable experiences at special events, their generosity makes a huge difference,” says Kristin.

Person-centered support includes fostering meaningful relationships, and volunteers offer invaluable opportunities for social interaction, belonging, and connection.

Foundation Board & Possibilities Gala

The DASCH Foundation Board is a dedicated team of volunteers who play a vital role in advancing the Foundation’s mission. Comprised of community and business leaders from diverse backgrounds, the Board provides expertise and oversight to ensure the Foundation’s continued growth and sustainability.

“By providing constructive and forward-thinking guidance, the Foundation Board has made unprecedented strides in its ability to do more for the people we support and to plan for the future with full sustainability within reach,” says Dorothy, DASCH Foundation Executive Director.

Volunteers are also a vital force behind the success of the Possibilities Gala, the DASCH Foundation’s largest fundraising event.

“From the planning (selling tickets, securing auction items, designing the room and picking the menu) to the event itself (morning setup, registration, auction support, and clean up) – none of it could happen without the 50+ volunteers that give their time,” says Dorothy.

DASCH Board of Directors

The DASCH Board of Directors is the cornerstone of our organization, furthering the Mission and Vision. With their collective experience, they provide a wide range of perspectives, ensuring decisions reflect the best interests of DASCH, the people we support, their families, and the team members working on the frontline doing the heavy heart work.

“The Board genuinely cares about every person we support and every member of the DASCH team,” says Kerri, DASCH Interim CEO. “Their commitment drives them to always strive for the best outcomes for everyone involved.”
