This past holiday season, the DASCH Foundation asked for help to restore something essential: the freedom to get out, take part, and belong.

Because of your generosity, you answered that call and made a lasting difference. Your support helped provide Roland and Wayne with a new wheelchair‑accessible van.

Donor-Driven Independence

This van is how these two men and their support team could return to familiar routines, trusted relationships, and the simple joy of being part of the community. Thanks to you, Roland and Wayne can once again go where they want, when they want, and feel at home while doing it.

You made it possible for them to attend community events, visit parks, go shopping, and enjoy a relaxing drive.

“Having a van back at the house is really very convenient. [Roland and Wayne] can go anytime they want for activities and errands, and most important, they have a van to use for emergencies and doctor’s appointments.” says John, DASCH Direct Support Professional (DSP).

Gracious Support Teams

Your generosity supports staff as well. By providing a dedicated van, you removed the need for staff to borrow vehicles from other homes, allowing everyone to travel together with the people they know and trust.

Benedict, another DASCH DSP, explains that having their own van means staff no longer stress about timing.

If a doctor’s appointment runs late, or there’s bad traffic, it’s no longer a worry because there’s no need to rush back to return another home’s borrowed vehicle. DSPs already juggle many responsibilities, so having a van again relieves the burden of coordinating availability.
