Qualifications

All successful applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Valid Class 5F or 5I license
  • Over 18 years of age
  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalency (Verification Required)
  • A language proficiency of 7 or equivalent
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Sound knowledge of developmental disabilities or experience in the field preferred
  • Current First Aid/CPR from St. John’s Ambulance preferred
  • Current NVCI certification preferred
  • Must be highly flexible and have the ability to deal with change
  • Willingness to provide personal care and to work with individuals with aggressive tendencies
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required
  • Knowledge of American Sign Language or Indigenous culture considered an asset
DASCH requires a criminal record check, adult abuse registry check, and child abuse registry check prior to commencement of employment.  DASCH will accept existing criminal record checks if dated within 3 months of your application date.  You may be required to apply for a criminal record check in-person if you have lived in the province of Manitoba for less than 1 year.  In-person criminal record checks can be obtained at 245 Smith Street, Winnipeg.  You may also apply for a criminal record check online, with a valid credit card, at https://policeinformationcheck.winnipeg.ca/ DASCH will apply for your adult and child abuse registry checks should you be a successful candidate.  Obtaining these documents is not a guarantee of employment.
