2025 DASCH Merit Award Recipient: Jenny Adams

Every year, the DASCH Foundation Possibilities Gala honours an individual supported by DASCH with the DASCH Merit Award. This award celebrates recipients who serve as exemplary role models, demonstrating remarkable achievements and unwavering perseverance.

The 2025 Merit Award was given to Jenny Adams, a shining star whose radiant smile is just the beginning of her story. Both staff and her roommates highly regard her for her intelligence, helpfulness, and organizational skills, describing her as kind and supportive.

Special Olympics

Jenny actively participates in Special Olympics year-round. In the winter, she competes in track and field with the EK EAGLES and bowls 5-Pin with the Polo Park Pins. In the summer, she excels in Bocce Ball and won gold in women’s doubles at the 2023 Summer Olympics in Berlin.

Jenny’s commitment to her athletic career is evident through her rigorous training and numerous achievements, including winning the Special Olympics Manitoba Athlete Community Excellence Award in 2024. She mentors fellow athletes, fosters a supportive and inclusive environment, and dedicates herself to raising awareness and support for Special Olympics.

Work

Jenny has worked in the dining room at Portsmouth Retirement Home for many years, serving seniors’ meals with a friendly, smiling face and kind words. Her colleagues, supervisors, and residents all speak highly of her.

DASCH

At home, Jenny enjoys watching happy movies and thrillers, cooking dinner with staff, and spending quality time with her roommates.

In the community, she loves going for walks, picnics, shopping for special occasions, attending dances, and hanging out at the Rec Room.

Supported by DASCH for 12 years, Jenny is eager to help share DASCH’s story.

You’ll frequently see her volunteering at events and appearing on DASCH’s social media and website.

Jenny Adams truly embodies the spirit of DASCH and Special Olympics, leaving a lasting positive impact on everyone she meets. She is so deserving of this award, and we are grateful to have Jenny and her family in the DASCH community!
